40 ENBasic remote control operations for other componentsOperating other componentsThis operation lets you operate the registered components.SOURCE(Source power)Source keys1Use the Source keys to select the component you desire.• Pressing the source keys also changes the input selector on thereceiver.2Press the SOURCE key.• To return to the receiver operation mode, press the RCV MODE key.3Press the operation keys you desire. yThe remote control mode remains at the selected input. If youwish to operate another component, repeat step 2 or 3.Resetting the Remote Control• To initialize the remote control, press the LEARN key until theblinks twice. Then press the Numeric key to enter 9, 8, 1. Thewill blink twice.4Repeat step 3three more times for the remaining digits. Use“2” for the second digit, “3” for the third digit, and “4” for thefourth digit.5To check the codes of your other components, repeat steps1through 4, but substitute the appropriate key (i.e., DVD/6CH, VIDEO 1, VIDEO 2, VIDEO 3, CD/DVD, MD/TAPE, PHONO,AV AUX, TV MODE) for the component you are checking.• As suggested earlier on, write down each of the four-digit code.• PHONO key has to be re-assigned to another key before a setupcode can be programmed.Re-assigning device keysThe remote control can be setup to control second TV or VCR, or anycombination of eight home entertainment components.For example, to control the operation of two different VCR using theremote control, the user need to re-assign the unused VIDEO 2 key tooperate the second VCR (VIDEO 1) as follows:1Press and hold the LEARN key until blinks twice, thenrelease the LEARN key.2Press the Numeric key to enter 9, 9, 2.• will blink twice.3Press VIDEO 1 key once, then press the VIDEO 2 key once.• The user now can operate VIDEO 2 as a second VCR along withVIDEO 1.• Refer to the table in the previous page for the combination ofsource keys and the other components assignment. ·4To re-assign other device keys, repeat steps 1through 3bysubstituting the key sequence from the below chart for themost popular components:To re-assign keySequence PerformTV MODE as 2nd VIDEO 1 key LEARN 9 9 2 VIDEO 1 TV MODETV MODE as 2nd VIDEO 2 key LEARN 9 9 2 VIDEO 2 TV MODETV MODE as 2nd CD/DVD key LEARN 9 9 2 CD/DVD TV MODETV MODE back to TV MODE key LEARN 9 9 2 TV MODE TV MODEVIDEO 1 as 2nd TV MODE key LEARN 9 9 2 TV MODE VIDEO 1VIDEO 1 as 2nd VIDEO 2 key LEARN 9 9 2 VIDEO 2 VIDEO 1VIDEO 1 as 2nd CD/DVD key LEARN 9 9 2 CD/DVD VIDEO 1VIDEO 1 back to VIDEO 1 key LEARN 9 9 2 VIDEO 1 VIDEO 15To clear the re-assignment and reset the remote control to itsoriginal operation mode:1 Press and hold the LEARN key until blinks twice, thenrelease the LEARN key.2 Press the Numeric key to enter 9 , 9 , 2.3 Press VIDEO 2 key twice.• When a re-assignment is done, will blink twice to confirm yourchoice. At that time, you will need to program the remote controlin order to control the new component.• If an invalid key sequence is entered, blink once and return tonormal operation.• When in Tuner mode, re-assignment is not available.
