A-3A.3 Source microplate surveyPrior to each run, the Echo liquid handler scans the fluid in each sourcemicroplate well.During the microplate survey, the acoustic transducer is moved beneatheach well. A pulse of acoustic energy is transmitted up through the bottomof the microplate into the fluid in the well. The low energy acoustic pulses used during the source plate survey doesnot eject droplets of fluid, it measures the fluid composition, impedance, and calculates the well fill height for each individual source well.If the fluid is very stable, the user can go to the Transfer Option in theAdvanced tab to schedule surveys to be performed less often (after adesignated number of runs) for quicker transfer throughput.A source microplate survey can also detect empty wells, out-of-range fluidfill volumes, or an incorrectly positioned acoustic transducer (under a wellwall).
