TV Rating Explanations• TV-Y - Appropriate for all chil-dren• TV-Y7 - Appropriate for chil-dren seven and older• TV-G - General Audience• TV-PG - Parental Guidancesuggested.• TV-14 - Unsuitable for childrenunder 14• TV-MA - Mature audience only20 Setting V-ChipTV RatingsV-CHIP enables parents to prevent their children from watch-ing inappropriate material on TV.V-CHIP reads the ratings formost TV programming (except news, sports, unedited movies,and Emergency Broadcast System signals), then denies viewingif the program’s rating meets the limitations you select. A“PROTECTED PROGRAM by ...” message appears on thescreen.You must select a different TV channel or play a Discinstead.V-CHIP affects only TV channels. It does not block DVD play.To block DVD viewing, change the PARENTAL feature. Seepages 34-35.TV programming is rated by the Motion Picture Associationof America (MPAA) or according to the Television ParentalGuidelines. In order to block any inappropriate programming,set your limits in both places (MPAA RATING and TV RAT-ING).Before you begin, make sure ...● The TV/DVD power is on.● The unit is in TV mode.
