20 ENGLISHInstalling or removing saw bladeWARNING: Always be sure that the tool isswitched off and the battery cartridge is removedbefore installing or removing the blade. Accidentalstart up of the tool may result in serious personalinjury.CAUTION: Use only the Makita hex wrenchprovided to install or remove the blade. Failureto do so may result in overtightening or insufficienttightening of the hex socket bolt. This could causean injury.Installing the circular saw blade1. Lock the handle in the raised position by pushingin the stopper pin.► Fig.30: 1. Stopper pin2. Use the hex wrench to loosen the hex socket boltholding the center cover by turning it counterclockwise.Then, raise the blade guard and center cover.► Fig.31: 1. Center cover 2. Hex socket bolt 3. Hexwrench 4. Blade guard3. Press the shaft lock to lock the spindle and usethe hex wrench to loosen the hex socket bolt clockwise.Then remove the hex socket bolt and outer flange.► Fig.32: 1. Mount the blade carefully onto the inner flange.Make sure that the direction of the arrow on the bladematches the direction of the arrow on the blade case.► Fig.33: 1. Outer flange 2. Saw blade 3. Install the outer flange and hex socket bolt, andthen use the hex wrench to tighten the hex socket bolt(left-handed) of the spindle securely counterclockwisewhile pressing the shaft lock.6. Return the blade guard and center cover to itsoriginal position. Then tighten the hex socket bolt of thecenter cover clockwise to secure the center cover.7. Release the handle from the raised position bypulling the stopper pin. Lower the handle to make surethat the blade guard moves properly.8. Make sure the shaft lock has released spindlebefore making cut.For tool with the inner flange for 15.88 mmhole-diameter saw bladeCountry specificMount the inner flange with its recessed side facingoutward onto the mounting shaft and then place circu-lar saw blade (with the ring attached if needed), outerflange and hex bolt.For tool without the ring► Fig.35: 1. SpindleWARNING: If the ring is needed to mount theblade onto the spindle, always be sure that thecorrect ring for the blade's arbor hole you intendto use is installed between the inner and the outerflanges. Use of the incorrect arbor hole ring mayresult in the improper mounting of the blade causingblade movement and severe vibration resulting inpossible loss of control during operation and in seri-ous personal injury.For tool with the inner flange for otherthan 20 mm or 15.88 mm hole-diametersaw bladeCountry specificThe inner flange has a certain diameter of a blademounting part on one side of it and a different diameterof blade mounting part on the other side. Blade mounting partCAUTION: Make sure that the blade mountingpart "a" on the inner flange that is positionedoutside fits into the saw blade hole "a" perfectly.Mounting the blade on the wrong side can result inthe dangerous vibration.Removing saw blade1. Lock the handle in the raised position by pushingin the stopper pin.2. Use the hex wrench to loosen the hex socket boltholding the center cover by turning it counterclockwise.Then, raise the blade guard and center cover.3. Press the shaft lock to lock the spindle and use thehex wrench to loosen the hex socket bolt clockwise. Thenremove the hex socket bolt, outer flange and blade.When storing the tool, install the outer flange and lightlytighten the hex socket bolt by hand to prevent loss.Connecting a vacuum cleanerWhen you wish to perform clean cutting operation,connect a Makita vacuum cleaner.► Fig.38
