Install the set plate on theholder (optional accessory) as shown in the figure.► Fig.52: 1. Set plate 2. Holder 3. ScrewAlign the cutting line on your workpiece with either the left orright side of the groove in the kerf board, and while holdingthe workpiece, move the set plate flush against the end ofthe workpiece. Then secure the set plate with the screw. When the set plate is not used, loosen the screw andturn the set plate out of the way.NOTE: Use of the holder-rod assembly (optionalaccessory) allows cutting repetitive lengths up to2,200 mm approximately.Groove cuttingWARNING: Do not attempt to perform thistype of cut by using a wider type blade or dadoblade. Attempting to make a groove cut with a widerblade or dado blade could lead to unexpected cuttingresults and kickback which may result in seriouspersonal injury.WARNING: Be sure to return the stopper armto the original position when performing otherthan groove cutting. Attempting to make cuts withthe stopper arm in the incorrect position could lead tounexpected cutting results and kickback which mayresult in serious personal injury. For a dado type cut, perform as follows:1. Adjust the lower limit position of the circular sawblade using the adjusting screw and the stopper arm tolimit the cutting depth of the circular saw blade. Refer tothe section for stopper arm.2. After adjusting the lower limit position of the circu-lar saw blade, cut parallel grooves across the width ofthe workpiece using a slide (push) cut.► Fig.53: 1. Cut grooves with blade3. Remove the workpiece material between thegrooves with a chisel.Carrying toolWARNING: Stopper pin is only for carryingand storage purposes and should never be usedfor any cutting operations. The use of the stopperpin for cutting operations may cause unexpectedmovement of the saw blade resulting in kickback andserious personal injury.CAUTION: Always secure all moving portionsbefore carrying the tool. If portions of the tool moveor slide while being carried loss of control or balancemay occur resulting in personal injury.► Fig.541. Remove the battery cartridge.2. Secure the blade at 0° bevel angle and the turnbase at the full right miter angle position.3. Secure the slide poles so that the lower slide poleis locked in the position of the carriage fully pulled tooperator and the upper poles are locked in the positionof the carriage fully pushed forward to the guide fence.4. Lower the handle fully and lock it in the loweredposition by pushing in the stopper pin.5. Carry the tool by holding both sides of the tool base. If youremove the holders, dust bag, etc., you can carry the tool more easily.MAINTENANCEWARNING: Always be sure that the blade issharp and clean for the best and safest perfor-mance. Attempting a cut with a dull and /or dirty blademay cause kickback and result in a serious personalinjury.CAUTION: Always be sure that the tool isswitched off and the battery cartridge is removedbefore attempting to perform inspection ormaintenance.NOTICE: Never use gasoline, benzine, thinner, alcohol or the like. Discoloration, deformation orcracks may result.Adjusting the cutting angleThis tool is carefully adjusted and aligned at the factory, but rough handling may have affected the alignment. Ifyour tool is not aligned properly, perform the following:Miter angle1. Push the carriage toward the guide fence andtighten two clamp screws to secure the carriage.2. Rotate the turn base until the pointer indicates 0°on the miter scale.3. Rotate the turn base slightly clockwise and coun-terclockwise to seat the turn base in the 0° miter notch.(Leave as it is if the pointer does not indicate 0°.)4. Loosen the hex socket bolts securing the guidefence using the hex wrench.► Fig.55: 1. Guide fence 2. Hex socket bolt5. Lower the handle fully and lock it in the loweredposition by pushing in the stopper pin.6. Adjust the guide fence until it makes a perpendic-ular angle with the blade using a triangular rule, try-square, etc. Then securely tighten the hex socket boltson the guide fence in order starting from the right side.► Fig.56: 1. Triangular rule 2. Guide fence7. Make sure that the pointer indicates 0° on the miter scale. If the pointer does not indicate 0°, loosen the screw whichsecures the pointer and adjust the pointer so that it indicates 0°.► Fig.57: 1.
