Doing so can damage the operating system.10. Follow the prompts in the installation wizard to install the driver.11. Restart the computer to ensure that the installation process completessuccessfully.Jumper SettingsSome devices in the system have pins that must be jumpered according toway the device is used in your computer, or the way your system isconfigured. For example, a hard drive or CD-ROM drive must bejumpered as a master or slave device to correspond to the way it is cabled.See the following sections for information on jumpering the devices in thesystem.System Board Jumper SettingsSystem board jumpers enable you to configure your system for aparticular system requirement.Conditions that require changing jumper settings include the followingsituations:! You are upgrading your processor. You must jumper the system boardfor Configure mode and then change the processor speed in theMaintenance menu of the BIOS Setup utility.! You forgot your password and cannot boot your system. You need toset a jumper to “clear” your current password.! Your BIOS has become corrupted and you must perform a BIOSRecovery. This entire procedure is performed in conjunction with aBIOS Recovery diskette. This procedure is seldom required; if it is,see the instructions that are provided with the diskette.You can obtain the BIOS Recovery program by downloading it to adiskette from the NECC File Transfer Protocol (FTP) site or the NECCwebsite. See Chapter 7 for information on how to access the files anddownload them onto a diskette.
