7-6 Solving System ProblemsMonitor ProblemsCheck the following problems to see the possible cause andsolution.n Monitor screen is darkCheck that the monitor power cable is connected to themonitor and a power outlet, the monitor signal cable isconnected to the system, and the brightness and contrastcontrols are adjusted.Press the space bar or move the mouse to take thesystem out of the power management mode.n Distorted image appears on your monitor screenAdjust the monitor's video controls. If this does not help,turn the monitor off for several seconds, then back on.n There is constant movement on the screen.A magnetic field is affecting your monitor. Move anydevices (fan, motor, another monitor) that generatemagnetic fields away from your monitor.n The screen display is fuzzy or flickering, graphicscharacters or garbage appears on the screen.Check that your monitor is set up correctly and that allconnections have been made.Check that the video refresh rate and video driver arecorrect by using the ProMotion video utility. InWindows for Workgroups, open the utility by doubleclicking the ProMotion icon in the Windows ControlPanel.In Windows 95, click the right mouse button anywhereon the desktop and a menu appears. Click on Propertiesand the Display Properties window appears.
