85ConfigureLink: Default ServerThis feature allows you to:• Direct your Gateway to forward all externally initiated IP traffic (TCP and UDP protocolsonly) to a default host on the LAN.• Enable it for certain situations:– Where you cannot anticipate what port number or packet protocol an in-bound appli-cation might use. For example, some network games select arbitrary port numberswhen a connection is opened.– When you want all unsolicited traffic to go to a specific LAN host.• Configure for IP Passthrough.Configure a Default Server. This feature allows you to direct unsolicited or non-specific traffic to a designated LAN station. With NAT “On” in the Gateway, these packetsnormally would be discarded.For instance, this could be application traffic where you don’t know (in advance) the port orprotocol that will be used. Some game applications fit this profile.Use the following steps to setup a NAT default server to receive this information:1. Select theConfigure toolbar button, thenAdvanced, then theDefaultServer link.2. From the pull-down menu, selectDefault-Server. The NAT Server IPAddress field appears.3. Determine the IP address of the LAN computer you have chosen toreceive the unexpected or unknown traffic.Enter this address in the NAT Server IP Address field.4. Click theSubmit button.5. Click theAlert button.6. Click theSave and Restart link to confirm.
