E37The Shooting Menu (for A (Auto) Mode)Reference SectionUsing Preset ManualThe preset manual option is used with mixed lighting or to compensate for lightsources with a strong color cast when the desired effect has not been achievedwith white balance settings like Auto and Incandescent (for example, to makeimages shot under a lamp with a red shade look as though they had been shotunder white light).Use the procedure below to measure the white balance value under the lightingused during shooting.1 Place a white or gray reference object under the lighting that will beused during shooting.2 Display the shooting menu (A11, 39), usethe multi selector to select b Preset manualin the White balance menu, and press the kbutton.• The camera zooms in to the position for measuringwhite balance.3 Select Measure.• To apply the most recently measured white balancevalue, select Cancel and press the k button. Thewhite balance setting will not be measured again andthe most recently measured value will be set.4 Frame the reference object in the measuringwindow.5 Press the k button to measure a value for preset manual.• The shutter is released and the new white-balance value is set. No image is saved.B Notes About Preset ManualA value for flash lighting cannot be measured with Preset manual.
