You can install two types of applications and software toyour device:• JME applications based on Java technology with the .jador .jar file extensions• Other applications and software suitable for theSymbian operating system with the .sis or .sisx fileextensionsOnly install software that is compatible with your device.Install applicationsSelect Menu > Ctrl. panel > App. mgr..You can transfer installation files to your device from acompatible computer, download them during browsing,or receive them in a multimedia message, as an e-mailattachment, or using other connectivity methods, such asBluetooth connectivity. You can use Nokia ApplicationInstaller in Nokia Ovi Suite to install an application to yourdevice.Icons in Application manager indicate the following:SIS or SISX applicationJava applicationwidgetsImportant: Only install and use applications andother software from trusted sources, such as applicationsthat are Symbian Signed or have passed the JavaVerified™ testing.Before installation, note the following:• To view the application type, version number, and thesupplier or manufacturer of the application, selectOptions > View details.To display the security certificate details of theapplication, select Details: > Certificates: > Viewdetails.• If you install a file that contains an update or repair toan existing application, you can only restore theoriginal application if you have the original installationfile or a full backup copy of the removed softwarepackage. To restore the original application, removethe application, and install the application again fromthe original installation file or the backup copy.The JAR file is required for installing Java applications.If it is missing, the device may ask you to download it.If there is no access point defined for the application,you are asked to select one. When you are downloadingthe JAR file, you may need to enter a user name andpassword to access the server. You obtain these fromthe supplier or manufacturer of the application.To install software or an application, do the following:1. To locate an installation file, select Menu > Ctrl.panel > App. mgr.. Alternatively, search forinstallation files using File manager, or selectMessaging > Inbox, and open a message thatcontains an installation file.2. In Application manager, select Options > Install. Inother applications, select the installation file to startthe installation.During installation, the device shows informationabout the progress of the installation.
