N OMADIX AG-2000 W ™ / AG-2000 WA ™Installing the AG-2000w 55Setting the DNS OptionsDNS allows subscribers to enter meaningful URLs into their browsers (instead ofcomplicated numeric IP addresses) by automatically converting the URLs into thecorrect IP addresses. You can assign a primary, secondary, or tertiary (third) DNSserver. The AG-2000w utilizes whichever server is currently available.Use the following procedure to set the DNS configuration options.1. Enter c (configuration) at the AG Menu.The Configuration menu appears.2. Enter dn (dns) at the Configuration menu.The system displays the current domain (the default is “nomadix”).3. Enter a valid domain name (the Internet domain that DNS requests will utilize).4. Enter the host name (the DNS name of the AG-2000w). The host name must notcontain any spaces.After assigning the host name, the system requests IP addresses for the primary,secondary, and tertiary DNS servers (the default for the DNS primary address is0.0.0.2).5. Enter the IP addresses for the DNS servers (located at the customer’s networkoperating center where DNS requests are sent).If the DHCP Client is enabled, you must configure DNS.You must configure DNS if you want to enter meaningful URLs insteadof numeric IP addresses into any of the AG-2000w’s configurationscreens.The secondary and tertiary DNS servers are only utilized if the primaryDNS server is unavailable.
