Chapter 1 Introduction 39Installation and Reference for the BayStack 10 Power Supply UnitReplacing an existing battery pack moduleYou may need to replace the battery pack module if the charge is completelydepleted and the battery will not recharge. You do not need to turn off power to theBayStack 10 PSU when you replace the battery.To replace a battery pack module:1 Remove the screws on the battery pack drawer, which is on the left front panelof the chassis.2 Using the handle, pull the battery pack drawer away from the chassis, but donot remove it completely.3 Disconnect the chassis 10 AWG wires (one red wire, one black wire) from thebattery poles.4 Pull the battery pack drawer completely free of the chassis.5 Discard the used battery according to local disposal requirements.6 Refer to “Installing the UPS and battery pack module” on page 36 forinformation on installing the new battery.Changing the North America/Japan voltage settingYou can use the same UPS in North America and Japan. The default setting of theUPS is for North American voltage. If you want to use the UPS in Japan, you canchange the voltage setting accordingly.Note: For information about correct battery disposal specific to yourcountry, contact the Nortel Networks Technical Solutions Center.
