Voice Office Application Suite Configuration GuideChapter 3 Broadcast Server InstallationOverview of Broadcast Server39Network DeploymentBroadcast Server should be deployed on a standalone computer runningMicrosoft Internet Information Services (IIS). While it is possible to installBroadcast Server on a shared IIS server, that decision should be based onthe expected load of the server.Note Other Voice Office applications can be deployed on the ApplicationGateway used with Broadcast Server. If you install Broadcast Server on a web server that supports multiple websites, a Broadcast Server virtual directory will be created below theprimary site. For information on addressing this issue, see theTroubleshooting section, “Installation and Startup,” page 48.As shown in the following illustration, Broadcast Server receives alertrequests from PCs on your network. Broadcast Server sends alert requeststo the Application Gateway, which handles alert transformation, scheduling, and transmission to IP telephones. There is no directinteraction between Broadcast Server and your IP telephones. If you have a cluster of Application Gateways, a single Broadcast Serverbroadcasts alerts across the entire cluster. Each Application Gateway in acluster is responsible for broadcasting alerts only to the devices registeredto it.
