Connect the external antenna to the appropriate Base Stationradio.Note: The length of the co-axial cable must not exceed 10 m.Installing an outdoor omni-directional external antennaWhen installing an outdoor omni-directional external antenna:• Locate the antenna on the external wall of the building.Note: The antenna must be mounted on a vertical surface.• Keep the outdoor omni-directional external antenna as close aspossible to the Base Station serving it (the Base Station must beinside). The recommended mounting height is 4 to 5 m aboveground level.• Always install a surge protector between an outdooromnidirectional antenna and a Base Station.Note: The connector on the outdoor omni-directional antenna isa TNC female connector, so you need an adapter toconnect it to the standard BNC co-axial cables needed forthe surge protector and the Base Station. You can also usea co-axial cable with a TNC male connector on one endand BNC male connector on the other end.! Fit lightning protection to the antenna if appropriate.See “Installing a lightning surge protector.”!
