Page: 90Service Guide OL400Chapter 4 Failure & Repair Analysis4.7 SELF-TESTS4.7.01 General InformationThe following diagnostics are available for the OL400 Printer.Continuous Print TestPrint FontsMenu PrintSerial Interface Loop TestEngine Test4.7.02 Continuous Print TestDuring the Continuous Print Test the OL400 will print a rolling ASCII character set. This test ishelpful in determining the relative print quality of an entire page.4.7.03 Print FontsAlthough Print Fonts is not usually considered a diagnostic, it is quite useful in determining if theOL400 is recognizing Font Cards and DLL Fonts.4.7.04 Menu PrintMenu Print should be used to determine the status of the various Menu Items. This information isstored in the EEPROM.4.7.05 Serial Interface Loop TestThe Serial Interface Loop Test is used to determine the status of the RS232-C Serial InterfaceBoard. A loopback connector (as shown in the Solutions Manual) must be attached to theinterface connector before running this test.4.7.06 Engine TestThe Engine Test allows the technician to operate the printer with the Main Controller Board,Interface Board and Operator Panel detached. This can be very helpful when trying to isolatedefective circuit boards.To perform the Engine Test, follow this procedure.1. Remove the upper cover.2. Detach the Operator Panel, Interface Board, RAM Expansion Board and MainController Board.3. Make sure that the paper cassette is installed.4. Override the cover interlock switch.5. Power ON the the printer while pressing Switch 1 on the Engine Controller
