This portrequires a bi-directional (IEEE 1384 compliant) parallelcable.2. USB – For connection to a PC running Windows 98 orabove (not Windows 95 upgraded to Windows 98) orMacintosh. This port requires a cable conforming to USBversion 2.0 or above.3. The operation of a printer is not assured if a USB-compatible device is connected concurrently with otherUSB-compatible machines.4. When connecting multiple printers of the same type, theyappear as *****, ***** (2), ***** (3), etc. Thesenumbers depend on the order of connecting or turning oneach printer.5. Serial – for direct connection to a device that uses serialprinting (available as an option for the B4500, B4550 andB4600). Note: cannot be used with the Ethernet card.6. Ethernet – For network cable connection; standard onnetwork models. (available as an option on non-networkmodels)7. If you are connecting your printer directly to astandalone computer proceed to the chapter entitled“Printer Drivers.”If your printer is to be installed as a network printer, pleaserefer to the User’s Guide for the network interface card forfurther details on how to configure the network connectionbefore installing the printer drivers.NOTE: Administrator’s authority is required when installing anetwork connection.
