MAC OS X > 111CHOOSING A COLOUR MATCHING METHODThere is no correct way to achieve a good match between thedocument displayed on your monitor, and it’s printed equivalent.There are many factors involved in achieving accurate andreproducible colour.However, the following guidelines may help in achieving good colouroutput from your printer. There are several suggested methods,depending on the type of document you are printing.RGB OR CMYK?The guidelines for choosing a colour matching method makesdistinctions between Red, Green, Blue (RGB) and Cyan, Magenta,Yellow, Black (CMYK).Generally, most documents you print will be in RGB format. This is themost common, and, if you do not know your document’s colour mode,assume that it is RGB.Typically CMYK documents are only supported in professionalDesktop Publishing and Graphics applications.MATCHING PHOTOGRAPHIC IMAGESRGB onlyOki Colour Matching is a generally a good choice. Select a matchingmethod appropriate to your monitor.RGB or CMYKIf you are printing photographic images from a graphics applicationsuch as Adobe Photoshop, you may be able to use Soft-Proofing tosimulate the printed image on your monitor. To do this, you can usethe ICC-Profiles provided by Oki, and then print using the ICC profilesas the Print Space (or Output space).NOTEThese suggestions are for guidance only. Your results may varydepending on the application from which you are printing. Someapplications will override any colour matching settings in the printerdriver without warning.
