Do not attempt to service the machineor lubricate moving parts by yourself.n Pull out the AC plug before trying to remove anyobjects that may have fallen into the machine.n Immediately disconnect the fax machine if itbecomes physically damaged and arrange for itsrepair or disposal.n When relocating your fax machine, always discon-nect the telephone line before disconnecting thepower cord, then reconnect the power cord first.Toner Cartridge andImage Drum Unit Handlingn Leave unused toner cartridges and image drum unitsin their packages until needed. When replacing atoner cartridge or image unit, re-use the packagingto dispose of the old toner cartridge or image drumunit.n Do not expose these components to light for morethan five minutes. Never expose the green drum(inside the image drum unit) to direct sunlight.n Always hold the image drum unit by the ends-neverby the middle. Never touch the green drum insidethe image drum unit.n Exercise care when removing the toner cartridge.Do not let it touch your clothing or porous materials.The toner powder causes permanent stains.n Small amounts of toner spilled on skin or clothingcan be readily removed with soap and cold water.Using heated water will make removing the stainmuch more difficult.Emergency First Aidn IF TONER IS SWALLOWED: Dilute by giving twoglasses of water and induce vomiting by administer-ing Syrup of Ipecac (follow manufacturer’s instruc-tions). Seek medical attention. Never attempt toinduce vomiting or give anything by mouth to aperson who is unconscious.n IF TONER IS INHALED: Take person to an open areafor fresh air. Seek medical attention.n IF TONER GETS IN THE EYES: Flush eyes with largequantities of cool water for 15 minutes, keepingeyelids open with fingers.
