1-3PRECAUTIONS FOR USECautions when using the copierWARNINGDO NOT place metallic objects or containerswith water (flower vases, flower pots, cups,etc.) on or near the copier. This type ofsituation presents a danger of fire orelectrical shock should they fall inside..........DO NOT remove any of the covers from thecopier as there is a danger of electrical shockfrom high voltage parts inside the copier......DO NOT damage, break or attempt to repairthe power cord. DO NOT place heavy objectson the cord, pull it, bend it unnecessarily orcause any other type of damage. These typesof situations present a danger of fire orelectrical shock................................................NEVER attempt to repair or disassemble thecopier or its parts as there is a danger of fire,electrical shock or damage to the laser. If thelaser beam escapes, there is a danger of itcausing blindness............................................If the copier becomes excessively hot, smokeappears from the copier, there is an oddsmell, or any other abnormal situationoccurs, there is a danger of fire or electricalshock. Turn the power switch OFF ({)immediately, REMOVE THE POWER PLUGfrom the outlet and then contact your servicerepresentative. ................................................If anything harmful (paper clips, water,other fluids, etc.) falls into the copier, turnthe power switch OFF ({) immediately.Next, BE ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN toremove the power plug from the outlet toavoid the danger of fire or electrical shock.Then contact your service representative. ....DO NOT remove or connect the power plugwith wet hands, as there is a danger ofelectrical shock................................................ALWAYS contact your service representativefor maintenance or repair of internal parts. .CAUTIONDO NOT pull the power cord when removingit from the outlet. Pulling on the power cordmay break the wires and start a fire or causean electrical shock. (ALWAYS grasp thepower plug when removing the power cordfrom the outlet.)..............................................ALWAYS remove the power plug from theoutlet when moving the copier. If the powercord is damaged, there is a danger of fire orelectrical shock. ..............................................If the copier will not be used for a shortperiod of time (overnight, etc.), turn thepower switch OFF ({).If it will not be used for an extended period oftime (vacations, etc.), remove the power plugfrom the outlet for safety purposes duringthe time the copier is not in use. ...................HOLD the designated parts only when liftingor moving the copier.......................................For safety purposes, always REMOVE thepower plug from the outlet when performingcleaning operations. .......................................If dust accumulates within the copier, thereis a danger of fire or other trouble. It istherefore recommended that you consultwith your service representative in regard tocleaning of internal parts. This isparticularly effective if accomplished prior toseasons of high humidity. Consult with yourservice representative in regard to the cost ofcleaning the internal parts of the copier.......DO NOT leave the Document Processor openas there is a danger of personal injury..........Other precautionsDO NOT place heavy objects on the copier or causeother damage to the copier.DO NOT open the front cover, turn off the powerswitch, or pull out the power plug during copying.When lifting or moving the copier, contact yourservice representative.Do not touch electrical parts, such as connectors orprinted circuit boards. They could be damaged bystatic electricity.DO NOT attempt to perform any operations notexplained in this handbook.CAUTION: Use of controls or adjustments orperformance of procedures other than those specifiedherein may result in hazardous radiation exposure.
