Setting the video inputsSelecting the video input signalsThe following three kinds of video signals can besupplied to the unit.They are selected using the video input selectorswitch and camera input selector switch.O To select the composite video signals which are tobe supplied to the VIDEO IN connector, set thevideo input selector switch to the VIDEO INposition.Bear in mind that stable recording may not bepossible if non-standard signals are supplied.O To select the signals which are to be supplied to theCAMERA connector, set the video input selectorswitch to the CAMERA position.To select either component signals or compositesignals as the video signals supplied from thecamera, use the camera input selector switch.Video input level display methodWhether the video input signals are being suppliedcan be monitored on the level meter of the signal leveldisplay window.Check the video input level using 75% SMPTE colorbar signals. The level will not be displayed properly ifother video signals are used.The camera’s component signals are set to theBetacam component level. To set them to the MIIlevel, first consult your dealer, and then set SW1 onthe VIDEO JACK circuit board (located inside theconnector panel) to the MII position.Camera input selector switchVideo input selector switchCAMERA connectorVIDEO IN connectorSignal level display windowSet the unit’s POWER switch to ON, and inserta cassette tape on which signals can berecorded.The level meter now appears on the signal leveldisplay window.1Press the METER button.The level meter normally displays the audio levelbut when the METER button is pressed, it displaysthe input video signal level instead. When it ispressed again, the audio level display is restored.(Even when the input video signal level isdisplayed, the audio level display will beautomatically restored in 5 seconds.)2
