However, in order to maximize the unit’s reliability, it isrecommended that the video heads be cleaned as and when appropriate. For further details on how to actually clean the heads, consult with one of our servicecompanies or with your dealer.CondensationMaintenanceBefore proceeding with maintenance, be absolutely sure to set the power switch to OFF, anddisconnect the plug from the power outlet.Use a soft cloth to clean the cabinet. To remove stubborn dirt, dilute some kitchen detergent, soak a rag in the solution, wring it out well, and use it to wipe away the dirt. Wipe up anyremaining moisture using a dry cloth. Do not use paint thinners or benzine. The same principle by which droplets of water form on a window pane of a heated room isresponsible for the formation of condensation inside the unit. Condensation occurs in the unit oron the tape when it is moved from one location to another where there is a significant differencein temperature and humidity. More specifically, it forms:O When the unit (or tape) is moved to a very humid location where the air is full of steam or to aroom immediately after it has been heatedO When the unit (or tape) is abruptly moved from an air-conditioned location to a very warm orvery humid locationWhen moving the unit to the kind of location described above, do not turn on its powerimmediately but leave it standing for about 10 minutes. If condensation has formed inside theunit, an error code (– d –) and warning display (HUMID) will light up on the status displaywindow, and the cassette tape will be automatically ejected.Leave the power on, and wait until the error code (– d –) and warning display (HUMID) arecleared.
