21Jog/Shuttle (Search dial)(1) Press the search dial so that it remainspressed inCheck that the JOG lamp lights.(2) Turn the search dialThe dial’s click-stops are released, and the card data isplayed back at the speed (–1x to +1x) corresponding tothe speed at which the dial is turned.When you stop turning the dial, a still picture is shown.(3) To transfer the memory card recorder from thejog mode to another mode, press the buttoncorresponding to the modeNote:The factory setting is that when you turn the search dialthe mode switches to either shuttle mode or jog mode.Select KEY at setup menu No. 100 (SEARCH ENA), sothe memory card recorder will not transfer to the searchmode unless you press the search button.Jog mode(1) Press the search dial so that it is released fromthe pressed-in positionThe SHTL lamp lights and the shuttle mode isestablished.• Immediately after switching the memory card recorderon, turn the search dial and leave it at the centerposition.(2) Press the SHTL/SLOW button and switch to[SHTL] or [SLOW](3) Turn the search dialWhen the SHTL lamp lights, the playback picture speedchanges from 0 up to ±32x, depending on the dialposition.This speed can be switched to ±8x, ±16x, ±32x, ±60x or±100x at setup menu No. 101 (SHTL MAX).The dial has a click-stop at the center position where thestill picture mode is established.(4) To transfer the memory card recorder from theshuttle mode to another mode, press the STOPbutton or another buttonNotes:• The playback audio is audible in the –10 to +10x speedrange from the audio monitor output.• The playback audio heard in the search mode containsnoise.• When playing a clip that spans a multiple number of P2cards at a speed faster than ±1x, the sound heardduring play may break up now and then: this is normaland not indicative of a malfunction.• When playing back at the –10x speed, the playbacksound may break up: this is normal and not indicative ofa malfunction.Shuttle mode/Slow modeLocate the edit points.Each time it is pressed, it is set alternatively to the SHTL/SLOW mode or the JOG mode, and the JOG, SHTL or SLOW lamplights.When the power is turned on, the search dial will not operate unless it is first returned to the STILL position.
