62RQT8856Troubleshooting GuideBefore requesting service, make the following checks. If you are in doubt about some of the check points, or if the remediesindicated in the chart do not solve the problem, consult your dealer for instructions.The following does not indicate a problem with the unit:Regular disc rotating sound.Poor reception due to atmospheric conditions.Image disturbance during search.Periodic interruptions to the reception due to satellite broadcasting breaks.Operations not working due to a poor-quality disc. (Try again using a Panasonic disc.)The unit freezing due to the activation of one of its safety devices (➔ 61, To restore the unit if it freezes).••••••General Issues PowerPageNo power.The unit does not turn on pressing[^ DVD].Insert the AC mains lead securely into a known active household mains socket.Linked timer recordings with external equipment is in recording standby (“EXT-L” on the unit’s display blinks when [^ DVD] is pressed). Press [EXT LINK] tocancel the recording standby.••8, 9, 5421The unit switches to standbymode.One of the unit’s safety devices is activated. Press [8] on the main unit toturn the unit on.• −The unit is turned off automatically. If you connected this unit to an “HDAVI Control” compatible TV with an HDMIcable, or connected this unit to a Q Link-compatible TV with a fully wired 21-pin Scart cable, this unit will be automatically set to standby mode when theTV is set to standby mode.• 34General Issues Displays PageThe display is dim. Change “FL Display” in the Setup menu.• 50“0:00” is flashing on the unit’s display. Set the clock.• 11The clock is not correct. Under adverse reception conditions, etc., the automatic time correctionfunction may not work. In this case, “Automatic” is automatically turned to“Off”. If re-setting the Auto Clock Setting does not work, set the time manually.• 11The displayed time of this unit isdifferent from the actual recordingtime or MP3 recording time.Times shown may disagree with actual times.• −-R -R DL +R +R DL The remaining capacity does not increase even if titlesare deleted.• −Available space on a DVD-RW (DVD-Video format) or +RW disc increases whenyou delete the last title (space may increase slightly when you delete other titles).• −If you record or edit about 200 times or more, the remaining capacity of DVD-R,DVD-R DL, +R, and +R DL is reduced and then recording or editing may be disabled(for the second layer on DVD-R DL and +R DL, this happens after about 60 times).• −The time during searching may not be displayed accurately.• −Compared to the actual recordedtime, the elapsed time displayedis less.(Only when recording in NTSC)The displayed recording/play time is converted from the number of frames at29.97 frames (equal to 0.999 seconds) to one second. There will be a slightdifference between the time displayed and the actual elapsed time (e.g.,actual one-hour elapsed time may display as approximately 59 minutes 56seconds). This does not affect the recording.• −General Issues OperationPageCannot operate the TV with theunit’s remote control.Change the manufacturer code on the remote control.• 53It may be necessary to set the code on the remote control again afterchanging the batteries.• 61The remote control doesn’t work. The remote control code is wrong. Change to the correct code.• 61The batteries are depleted. Replace them with new ones.• 5Point the remote control at the remote control sensor on the main unit.• 5Remove obstacles between the remote control and the main unit.• −Remove dust from the transmission window and the unit’s sensor.• −
