Answering System Features48Answering systemThis unit contains an answering systemwhich can answer and record calls for youwhen you are unavailable to answer thephone. You can also record your own voicememos (page 51) and phone conversations(page 18).Important:L Only 1 person can access the answeringsystem (listen to messages, record agreeting message, etc.) at a time.L When callers leave messages, the unitrecords the day and time of eachmessage. Make sure the date and timehave been set (page 14).Memory capacityThe total recording capacity (including yourgreeting message, caller messages, voicememos, audible call announcements, andrecorded conversations) is about 15minutes. A maximum of 64 messages canbe recorded.Note:L If message memory becomes full:– “Answer Sys. Full” is shown on thehandset display– the answer on indicator on the base unitflashes rapidly– the total number of recorded messagesflashes on the base unit displayErase unnecessary messages (page 50).L Messages are retained even if a powerfailure occurs.Turning the answeringsystem on/offUsing the base unitPress {Answer on} to turn on/off theanswering system.L When the answering system is turned on,the answer on indicator lights.L When the answering system is turned off,the answer on indicator turns off and theunit automatically plays new messages, ifany.Using the handset1 Press $ (middle soft key).2 Select u, then press ,.3 Select “Answer On” or “Answer Off”,then press ,.4 Press {ih}.Note:L When the answering system is turned on,u is displayed next to the battery icon.Greeting messageWhen the unit answers a call, callers aregreeted by a greeting message.
