Battery power is consumed whenever the handset is offthe base unit, even when the handset is not in use. The longer you leave thehandset off the base unit, the time you can actually talk on the handset will beshortened. Actual battery performance depends on a combination of how oftenthe handset is in TALK mode and how often it is in Standby mode.• Clean the charge contacts of the handset and the base unit with a soft, drycloth once a month. Clean more often if the unit is subject to grease, dust orhigh humidity, otherwise, the battery may not charge properly.• If the battery is fully charged, you do not have to place the handset on the baseunit until “Recharge battery” is displayed and/or “3” flashes. This willmaximize the battery life.• If you want to keep the battery fully charged at all times, place the handset on thebase unit when the handset is not being used. The battery cannot beovercharged.• When the Clarity Booster feature is turned on automatically or manually, batteryoperating time may be shortened (p. 22).Battery replacement :If you cleaned the charge contacts and fully charged the battery, but after a fewtelephone calls, “Recharge battery” is displayed and/or “3” continues toflash, or “Charge for 6 HRS” and “4” are displayed, the battery may needto be replaced.
