26Using the Video FlashThe Built-in Video Flash enables you to record still pictures in a dark place.When using the optional Video Flash (VW-FLH3E), refer to the operatinginstructions of the Video Flash.1 Press the [PUSH] Button to open the Video Flash.2 Set [CAMERA FUNCTIONS] >> [RECORDING SETUP] >>[FLASH] >> [ON] or [AUTO].≥If [AUTO] is selected, Video Flash is set off if light is needed by sensingthe surrounding luminosity.3 Press the [STILL] Button.≥Video Flash is set off.4 Press the [PHOTO SHOT] Button or Recording Start/StopButton.≥Video Flash is not set off when recording.≥If either [ß], [ßi] or [ßj] Indication is lit 1, flash is set off. If flashing or notdisplayed, Video Flash is not set off.≥The available range of the Video Flash is approximately 1 to 2.5 metres in adark places. Picture will appear dark when they are recorded by using theVideo Flash at distances greater than 2.5 metres.≥Using the Video Flash VW-FLH3E (optional) enables you to record stillpictures farther than 2.5 metres in a dark place. The available range isapproximately 1 to 4 metres.≥The Video Flash VW-FLH3E (optional) and the built-in video flash cannot beused simultaneously.≥Object of recording may appear dark if flash is set off in front of whitebackground.≥Tele Conversion Lens (VW-LT4314ME) or Wide Conversion Lens(VW-LW4307ME) can block flash light and may cause vignetting effect.Adjusting Brightness of the Video FlashSet the [FLASH LEVEL] on the [RECORDING SETUP] Sub-Menu to desiredFlash Level.≥Normally, set it to [NORMAL] ([ß] Indication appears).≥If the brightness is not enough in [NORMAL] setting, set it to [i] ([ßi]Indication appears), if it is too much, set it to [j] ([ßj] Indication appears).To make the “Red Eye” phenomenon reduceSet the [RED EYE REDUCTION] on the [RECORDING SETUP] Sub-Menu to[ON].≥The [£] Indication 2 appears.≥You may get red eyes phenomenon depending on the recording condition.≥For other notes concerning this item, see page 51.PUSH1MENUSHUTTER/IRIS/ VOL/JOGPUSH243STILLPHOTOSHOTߣ2 1
