Monitoring the Playback PicturePlayback picture is only displayed in MULTISCREEN OUT-PUT picture.Caution:Set the time lapse VCR to the playback mode.Recorded tapes should be played back in NORMAL orTIME LAPSE mode.Notes:• This unit does not reproduce a clear picture inreverse playback.• The playback picture may be skewed (horizontallydistorted) in the upper portion of the monitor screendepending on the selected playback mode.• The LED on the VCR/CAM button blinks when nosignal is input to the PLAY IN connector. The LEDalso blinks if the codes (camera numbers, etc.)recorded on the VCR tape track have not been readfor some reason. In this case, the playback pictureis displayed simply by tracing the tape. Skippinginstructions or other selections are ignored.• The looped through VCR output may appear on themonitor while playing back a tape in forward orreverse search.• The picture or title may become unstable becauseof the recording field rate.• Depending on the condition of the VCR’s videoheads, the pictures of another channel may appearon the monitor.If this occurs frequently, adjust the tracking andslow tracking of the VCR.• The size of pictures displayed on the multiscreen issmaller than in single picture format, which makesthe titles hard to read. Select spot picture to maketitles easier to read.• Playback in linear mode (L12H, L18H, L24H) mayproduce noise or the picture of another channel inany recorded mode. Play back the tape in NORMAL(real time mode) or TIME LAPSE mode.• To play back pictures in the OTHERS mode of theENCODE menu and display them as stills, it is rec-ommended to use the STILL button on the multi-plexer, not on the VCR.1. Spot Playback Picture1. Operate the VCR in playback mode.2. Confirm that the LED on the VCR/CAM button is lit. Ifthe LED is not lit, press the VCR/CAM button so that theLED on the VCR/CAM button lights up. This step isunnecessary when PLAYBACK AUTO is set to ON.VCRCAMNotes about PLAYBACK AUTO function• To use the PLAYBACK AUTO function, your VCR shouldhave an E-E output that is capable of looping throughthe REC OUT signal to PLAY IN while recording. At thesame time, the connections to REC OUT and PLAY INshould be made as shown on page 23.• When PLAYBACK AUTO is ON, set the NOT REC para-meter to CAMERA.
