SNMP MIB ObjectsE-33150-A2-GB21-80 February 1998• datalink/subnetwork(2) – Layer 2 functionality(SLIP, PPP) for the COM, AUX, and MODEMports.• internet(4) – Layer 3 functionality (IP) for allmanagement links.• end-to-end(8) – Layer 4 functionality (UDP) for allmanagement links. Therefore, set this object to 15 (the sumof 1 + 2 + 4 + 8).Interface Group, MIB IIThe Interface Group consists of an object indicating thenumber of interfaces supported by the unit and aninterface table containing an entry for each interface. TheCSU provides an entry in the interface table for thenetwork interface, the DTE interface, the COM port, theAUX port, and the MODEM port, if they apply. Thefollowing sections provide clarification for objectscontained in the Interface Group where it is not clear howthe object definition in MIB II is related to the CSU.Interface Group – “ifNumber” Object(interfaces 1)This variable contains the maximum number of MIB IIsupported interfaces possible across the 31xx Seriesproduct line (9). This is different from the MIBdescription, which is defined as the number of interfaceson the particular device. This change allows the use of thesame ifIndexes across all 31xx Series models.Interface Group – “ifIndex” Object (ifEntry 1)This object provides the index into the ifTable andtypically into tables in other MIBs also. The values of theifIndex object do not vary between models even thoughnot all indexes are supported for a particular model. Whenan unsupported index is accessed, “noSuchName” isreturned. The following are the values of the ifIndexes for allCSU models:• 1 – Net T1• 2 – DTE T1• 3 – COM port• 4 – Modem port• 5 – Auxiliary RS-232 portThe supported ifIndexes for the 3150 CSU are:• Net T1• DTE T1• COM port• Modem port• Auxiliary RS-232 portThe supported ifIndexes for the 3151 CSU are:• Net T1• DTE T1• COM port (if configured)Interface Group – “ifDescr” Object (ifEntry 2)This object provides information about the interface. Each interface displays a text string as shown below:Network T1: “Network T1. [Company Name]T1 CSU, Hardware Version: [CCAnumber for the CSU board]”.DTE T1: “DTE T1. [Company Name] T1CSU, Hardware Version: [CCAnumber for the CSU board]”.COM: “COM port. [Company Name] T1CSU, Hardware Version: [CCAnumber for the CSU board for thestandalone, or the CCA number forthe DSU board for the carrier]”.Modem: “MODEM port. [Company Name]T1 CSU, Hardware Version: [CCAnumber for the CSU board]”.AUX: “AUX port. [Company Name] T1CSU, Hardware Version: [CCAnumber for the CSU board]”.Interface Group – “ifType” Object (ifEntry 3)This object identifies the type of the interface based onthe physical/link protocol(s) immediately below thenetwork layer. Only the following values are supported bythe CSU:• ds1 – Used for the network and DTE interfaces.
