Message Meaning What to doGROUND TOOFINE! Adjust mill- INSERT WATERSPOUT - Presshot waterThe appliance cannot brewcoffee.Insert the hot water spout, press the button andlet water run out of the spout for a few seconds.The coffee is brewed tooslowly.Turn the grinding coarseness knob clockwiseone setting (see section ‘Regulating the coffeemill’ in chapter ‘Using the espresso maker’).INSERT WASTEBINAfter cleaning, the waste binhas not been reinserted intothe appliance.Open the service door and insert the waste bin.NO GROUNDCOFFEE! -Fillcontainer-You have selected the groundcoffee function but you havenot put ground coffee in theappliance.Add ground coffee (see section ‘Brewingespresso from ground coffee’ in chapter ‘Usingthe espresso maker’).NO COFFEEBEANS! -Fillcontainer-The coffee beans have run out. Fill the coffee bean container.If the coffee grinder is verynoisy, this means a small stonein the coffee beans has blockedthe mill.Contact an authorised Philips service centre.LESS GROUNDCOFFEE!The ground coffee funnel isclogged.Switch off the appliance and empty the funnelwith the handle of a spoon. Be careful not todamage the funnel.You have put too much groundcoffee in the appliance.Reduce the quantity of ground coffee. Then brewcoffee again.PLEASEDESCALE!This indicates the presenceof scale in the appliance.Perform the descaling procedure as soon aspossible (see section ‘Descaling’ in chapter‘Setting menu parameters’).CLOSE DOOR! The service door is open. Close the service door. If the service doorcannot be closed, make sure that the brewingunit is inserted correctly (see section ‘Cleaningthe brewing unit’ in chapter ‘Cleaning’).INSERTBREWING UNIT!You have probably notreinserted the brewing unitafter you cleaned it.Insert the brewing unit (see section ‘Cleaning thebrewing unit’ in chapter ‘Cleaning’).GENERIC ALARM! The inside of the appliance isvery dirty.Switch off the appliance and clean the inside ofthe appliance thoroughly, as described in chapter‘Cleaning’.
