9Setup and ConnectionsStep 3: Connect the G-LINK CableThe G-LINK cable enables the GUIDE Plus+ Gold System (the on-screenguide that lists what shows are on TV) to work with your VCR and/orcable box.Cable Box – If your TV is connected to a cable box and you don’tconnect the G-LINK cable, no channels will be listed in the on-screenprogram guide.VCR – If your TV is connected to a VCR and you don’t connect the G-LINKcable, one-touch recording won’t work. The other features of the guidewill work properly.How to Find the Remote Control SensorYou have to place the G-LINK wands in front of the remote controlsensor on the VCR and/or cable box. Some cable boxes and VCRs havethe remote control sensor labeled on the unit. If the remote sensor isn’tlabeled on your VCR and/or cable box, you need to use the remotecontrol that came with the VCR and/or cable box to locate the sensor.1. Turn off the VCR and/or cable box.2. Hold the remote control (not the one that came with your TV, butthe one that came with the cable box and/or VCR to which you’reconnecting the G-LINK cable) so it is touching the front of thecomponent.3. Slowly move the remote control across the front of the component(VCR or cable box) while you press the power button on and off.You must press and release the power button each time you movethe remote (holding down the button won’t work).VCR03CHANNELCable Box4. When the component turns on, you’ve located the remote controlsensor.5. Place the wands of the G-LINK cable underneath your VCR and/orcable box (see instructions on right).The G-LINK cable is used to send commands toyour VCR and/or cable box. You must remove theDEMO PIN before you can connect the G-LINKcable.Placing the Wands Under theVCR and/or Cable BoxPlace the wands of the G-LINK cableunderneath your VCR and/or cable box.Place them about one inch away from theremote control sensor.VCR03CHANNELSENSORSENSORConnect to G-LINK jackon the back of the TV.If you don't have a cable box, just coil thecable of the extra G-LINK wand with atwist tie and leave it behind the TV.If you don't have a VCR, just coilthe cable of the extra G-LINKwand with a twist tie and leaveit behind the TV.
