Most remote controls transmitonly in IR and must be pointed in a direct line of sight with the IR sensor on your electronic component inorder to function properly. Because the RCU1010RF has radio frequency capabilities, the remote control doesnot have to be pointed at the receiver; in fact, it doesn’t even have to be in the same room! The RF signalsgo through your whole house and enable you to control all of your components wherever you are! What advantages does that bring to you and your home electronic equipment? Plenty!First, you can place your component (such as a VCR, DVD, etc) in a closed cabinet, and the RCU1010RFwill transmit the proper signals to it. That gives you great flexibility in setting up your homeentertainment system.Secondly, if your satellite receiver is upstairs, the RCU1010RF allows you to change the channel whiledownstairs. (Additional wiring needed).Thirdly, the RCU1010RF transmits through walls, floors, ceilings—even to your deck outdoors so you cancontrol your component(s) wherever you are. For example, if you are outside on your deck enjoying music onyour wireless speakers, you can use the RCU1010RF to adjust the volume without going back into the house! The RCU1010RF is packed with features you want—and its RF capabilities make it the perfect remote to giveyou added control and flexibility. What’s So Great About RF Technology? For the purposes of this guide, “component” refers to your electronic equipment—TV, VCR, DVD, PVR/DVR,satellite receiver, auxiliary or audio components—all of which can be operated using the RCU1010RF remotecontrol unit. When you press and release a component key, you put the remote in that component mode (e.g.,pressing the TV key puts the remote in the TV Mode). The remote remains in that mode until you press andrelease another mode key. When you put the remote in a specific component mode, the control screen that isshown on the touchscreen is the control screen for that mode.RCU1010RF_US_QS_revA 9/12/03 16:01 Page 1
