17L/O — appears when you manuallyselect a locked channel or a skippedfrequency.DLY — appears when you program achannel for a 2-second delay or whenyou listen to a channel that has beenprogrammed with the delay feature. Also, the indicator appears when youturn on the delay feature during a limitor direct search or weather scan.WX — appears when the scanner issearching the weather band frequen-cies.ALERT — appears when the scanneris set to respond to a weather alerttone.s and t — indicate the search direc-tion.SEARCH — appears during a limitsearch (-L- also appears), direct fre-quency search (-d- also appears),weather frequency search, auto storemode, hold direct search (-h- alsoappears), and hold limit search (-H-also appears).UNDERSTANDINGCHANNEL-STORAGEBANKSYou can store up to 210 frequenciesinto your scanner’s memory. Youstore each frequency into either amemory called a channel, or a tempo-rary memory called a monitor. Thisscanner has 200 channel memoriesand 10 monitor memories.Channel-Storage BanksTo make it easier to identify and selectthe channels you want to listen to,channels are divided into 10 channel-storage banks of 20 channels each.Use each channel-storage bank togroup frequencies, such as the policedepartment, the fire department, am-bulance services, or aircraft (see“Guide to the Action Bands” onPage 34).For example, the police departmentmight use four frequencies, one foreach side of town. You could programthe police frequencies starting withChannel 1 (the first channel in Bank 1)and then program fire department fre-quencies starting with Channel 21 (thefirst channel in Bank 2).MONITOR MEMORIESThe scanner also has 10 monitormemories. You can use these memo-ries to temporarily store frequencieswhile you decide whether or not tosave them into channels. This ishandy for quickly storing an active fre-quency when you search through anentire band.
