When the scanner finds a trans-mission, you can:• Store the displayed frequencyinto the current monitor memory— quickly press MONITOR.• Lock out the frequency so thescanner does not stop on itagain — press S/S. The scan-ner resumes searching.• Continue the search withoutstoring it or locking it out —press s or t.• Hold the scanner on the fre-quency — press LIMIT or turnthe rotary tuner either way oneclick. -H- appears.Notes:• You can press s or t while thescanner displays -H- to stepthrough the frequencies towardthe upper or lower limits.• If you tune to a search skip fre-quency, the scanner displaysL/O (see “Search Skip” onPage 21).• If you program all frequencieswithin a limit search range assearch skip frequencies, thescanner goes to the hold mode.-H- appears on the display.• During the limit search, you canchange the modulation (NFM orAM). See “Changing the Modu-lation Mode” on Page 28.Press LIMIT again or press andhold s or t for more than 1 secondto resume the limit search.Direct SearchA direct search lets you specify astarting frequency, then search for ac-tive transmissions above or below thespecified frequency.Note: You can use the delay featureduring a direct search (see “Delay”).1. Press MANUAL.2. Using the number keys, enter thefrequency (including the decimalpoint) you want to start the searchfrom; or, enter the channel num-ber containing the starting fre-quency and press MANUAL orPROGRAM to select the channel.3. Press s to search up or t to searchdown starting from the specifiedfrequency. -d-, SEARCH, and sor t appear, and the next availablemonitor memory flashes.Note: If you enter an invalid fre-quency, Error appears on thedisplay.
