7The OvensDuring use the appliance becomes hot. Care should be taken to avoid the touching heating elementsinside the oven.Before using for the first time, to dispel manufacturing odours turn the ovens to 230°C and run for anhour. To clear the smell, make sure the room is well ventilated to the outside air, by opening windows orturning on a cooker hood for example. We recommend that people with respiratory or allergy problemsshould vacate the area for this brief period.The clock must be set to the time of day before the ovens will work. See ‘The Clock’ section for instructions onsetting the time of day.The Left Hand Oven The Right Hand Tall OvenThe left hand oven is a Multi-function oven. As well asthe oven fan and fan element, it is fitted with two extraheating elements, one visible in the top of the ovenand the second under the oven base. Take care to avoidtouching the top element and element deflector whenplacing or removing items from the oven. For moredetail on this oven see the section ‘Multi-function oven’.The fan in the right hand oven circulates hot aircontinuously, which means faster more even cooking.The recommended cooking temperatures for a fannedoven are generally lower than a non-fanned oven.The Multi-functionoven has twocontrols, a functionselector and atemperature settingknob.The right handfan oven control isat the right handend of the controlpanel.Turn the function selectorcontrol to a cookingfunction.
