Changing Your Settings 107Configuring your Network ProfilesUse this menu option to select and edit the profile for connectingyour phone to a network. Although you can change the activeconnection, it is recommended that this only be done withassistance from your service provider.Note: Network Profiles are pre-configured by your service provider and thedefault profile is pre-set. If you change the settings without consultingyour service provider, the web browser and MMS features may not workproperly.1. In Idle mode, press Settings ConnectivityNetwork Profiles and press the Select soft key or thekey.2. Highlight one of the available options and press the Viewsoft key.– or –To create a new connection, press Options New, andpress the Select soft key or the key.3. Select the parameter you want to edit:• Set Name: enter a profile name.• Access Name: edit the access point name.• Auth Type: select the type of authentication used for this WAPconnection: None, Normal, or Secure.• User ID: enter the User ID required to connect to the network.• Password: enter the user password required to connect tothe network.• Protocol: set the connection protocol used by the WAP browser:WAP, HTTP, or Other.• Home URL: enter the URL address of the page to use asyour homepage.• Gateway Address: Enter the Gateway Address. This option onlyappears when the Protocol is set to WAP.• Secure Connection: Select On or Off depending on whether ornot you have a secure connection. This option only appears whenthe Protocol is set to WAP.• Proxy Address: set the proxy server address and port.• Linger Time (sec.): set a time period (in seconds) after which thenetwork is disconnected if there is no new data traffic.Applications SettingsThe Applications Settings feature allows you to configure thefunctional parameters for most of the included applications.
