Entering Text44Using the T9 ModeThe T9 predictive text input mode allows you to keyin any character using single keystrokes. This textinput mode is based on a built-in dictionary.1. When you are in the T9 predictive text inputmode, start entering a word by pressing keys 2to 9. Press each key only once for one letter.Example: To enter HELLO in the T9 mode, press4, 3, 5, 5 and 6 keys.The word that you are typing appears in thedisplay. It may change with each key that youpress.2. Enter the whole word before editing or deletingthe keystrokes.3. If the word is correct, start entering the nextword.Otherwise, press the 0, Up or Down keyrepeatedly to display alternative word choicesfor the keys that you have pressed.Example: Both OF and ME have the sequence 6,3. The phone displays the mostcommonly used choice first.4. Complete each word with a space by pressingthe key.• To type words not found in the T9 mode, changethe text input mode to the upper/lower-casecharacter input mode.Entering Text45• To enter full stops, hyphens or apostrophes, pressthe 1 key. The T9 mode applies grammar rules toensure that the correct punctuation is used.Example: 1 is used twice to display twopunctuation marks:• To change the case in the T9 mode, use thekey. There are two cases:Lower caseUpper case• You can move the cursor by using the Left andRight keys.
