44_ Washing a load of laundryWashing a load of laundryPre wash compartmentWhen using the Pre Wash option, detergent should be added to both the Pre Washcompartment and the detergent compartment. The detergent will automatically be dispensedduring the Pre Wash.• If high efficiency (HE) detergent is used, add 1/3 the recommended amount to the Pre Washcompartment and 2/3 the recommended amount to the detergent compartment.Bleach compartment(Liquid chlorine bleach only)1. Add chlorine bleach to the bleach compartment.DO NOT exceed the MAX FILL line.2. Avoid splashing or over–filling the compartment.3. Your washer automatically dispenses bleach into the tub atthe appropriate time.4. The dispenser automatically dilutes liquid chlorine bleachbefore it reaches the wash load.• Never pour undiluted liquid chlorine bleach directlyonto the load or into the tub. It is a powerful chemicaland can cause fabric damage such as weakening ofthe fibers or color loss if not used properly.• If you do not run your wash and leave the laundry inthe washer for a period of time after you have addeddetergent or applied stain remover or pre-treatment,the laundry may be discolored.• Oxi-type boosters or color-safe bleach can be addedto the drum prior to adding laundry.• Put the laundry into the drum only after confirmingthat the oxi-type boosters or color-safe bleach hascompletely entered the hole of the drum.• However, to use powdered detergent and powder oxi-type boosters or powdered color-safe bleach at thesame time, it is more effective putting them in togetherand removing the liquid detergent holder from thedetergent compartment.Fabric Softener compartmentBleach compartmentFabric softener compartment1. Pour the recommended amount of liquid fabric softener into the softener compartment.For smaller loads, use less than one capful.2. Dilute the fabric softener with water until it reaches the MAX FILL line in the compartment.3. The dispenser automatically releases the liquid fabric softener at the proper time during therinse cycle.• Use the softener compartment ONLY for liquid fabric softeners.• DO NOT use a Downy Ball* in the fabric softener compartment with this washer. It willnot add fabric softener at the appropriate time.Use the detergent Compartment.• It is not recommended using liquid fabric softener that is too sticky as it may not mix withthe water sufficiently.* The brand names are trademarks of their respective manufacturers.
