Fourth Edition • Fourth Printing Operator's ManualOperating InstructionsPart No. 214834 GTH-1056 35Parking BrakeUse the parking brake switch to apply the parkingbrake before raising the boom or leaving themachine.Push the top of the rocker switch to turn theparking brake on.Push the bottom of the switch to turn the parkingbrake off.Brake PedalUse the brake pedal to control the machine speedand to stop the machine motion.Push and hold the brake pedal to stop themachine.Push and release the brake pedal to control themachine speed.Starting the Engine1 Be sure the parking brake is set and thetransmission control lever is in the neutralposition.2 Insert the key in the ignition switch.3 Turn the key until the engine starts.If the engine fails to start after 30 seconds ofcranking, determine the cause and repair anymalfunction. Wait 120 seconds before trying tostart again.Steer SelectAlways position all wheels in line with the machinebefore switching the steering mode.Do not realign the wheels while driving.Steer selector switchRaising and Lowering theStabilizersPush the top of the rocker switch to raise thestabilizer. Push the bottom of the rocker switch tolower the stabilizer.Lower each stabilizer until the footpad is in firmcontact with the ground. The tires do not need tobe off the ground.Emergency Exit (if equipped)Rotate each retaining lever and push out thewindow.
