To start using your MHS550, find thedesired band and follow the steps in the section.Operation - Marine and Weather BandsRotate VOLUME untilthe display lights and thePower On tone sounds.The Uniden splashscreen appears followedby the normal channelscreen.Set the volume toa comfortable listening level. The display showsChannel 16 (default) in the US marine band, a 5-wattlevel and DISTRESS appears on the message linespace at the bottom edge of the screen.Press ▲ or ▼ to change channels. The marinechannels begin at 01 and continue, in a closed loop,through 88A. Using either key you can manuallyselect a channel to use. To cycle rapidly through thechannels, press and hold either ▲ or ▼ for aboutone-half second.Press WX/ALERT to switch to the weather channels.Ten channels are designated as weather channels. Allcarry the sameinformation. One willprovide the bestreception for yourparticular area.Use ▲ or ▼ to cyclethrough the ten channels1..3.4.5.
