Low or Discharged batterypack.Recharge Lithium Ion battery.Replace battery.Use alkaline batteriestemporarily.When the PTT is pressed -TX icon appears andanother radio can hear a‘click’ but no audio isheard.Bad microphone element Send in for repair.When scanning, radiostops on a particularchannel all the time.A source of noise isnearby.Turn Squelch clockwise toreduce noise so that scanfunction skips channel orremove channel from scan.There is noise on thereceiver that the squelchwill not eliminate.An external noise is beinggenerated by some device.Turn off the offending device orcontact the devicemanufacturer regarding FCCPart 15 “unintentional radiator.”You made arrangementsto communicate withanother VHF radio on aspecific channel, and youcannot hear them.You and the other user areusing different countrymodes (USA/CAN/INT)Be sure both are using thesame country mode. Somemodes use the same numericselections. Channel 16, theDistress, Safety, and Callingchannel is the same on all threemodes.You cannot change thetransmit power setting.You selected a channelthat is limited to a 1watttransmit power such aschannel 13, or you selecteda ‘receive only’ channelsuch as Weather band.Change to an unrestrictedTransmit/receive channel.The SCAN/MEM key doesnot start scanning.Cause 1: No channelshave been stored inmemory.Cause : Squelch is notadjusted correctly.Remedy 1: Use theSCAN/MEM key to storeseveral selected channel inmemory.Remedy : Adjust the Squelchsetting to a point just below thatwhen the background noisedisappears.You can heartransmissions, but theother radio cannot hearyou.The transmit power is setto 1W watt.Use BAND/1/2.5/5W to changeto a higher transmit power level.
