156 Driving and operatingfunctions remain active until driver'sdoor is opened, provided the ignitionwas on previously.Emergency shut off during drivingPress Engine Start/Stop for longerthan two seconds or press twicebriefly within five seconds 3 157.Steering wheel lockThe steering wheel lock activatesautomatically when:● The vehicle is stationary.● The ignition has been switchedoff.● The driver's door is opened.To release steering wheel lock, openand close driver's door and switch onaccessory mode or start the enginedirectly.9 WarningIf the vehicle battery is discharged,the vehicle must not be towed,tow-started or jump-started as thesteering wheel lock cannot bedisengaged.Operation on vehicles withelectronic key system in case offailureIf either the electronic key fails or thebattery of the electronic key is weak,the Driver Information Centre maydisplay No Remote Detected orReplace Battery in Remote Key whenyou try to start the vehicle.Place the electronic key solelycentred in the transmitter area inlongitudinal direction flat with buttonsupside as shown in the illustration.Other objects, e.g. other keys,transponder, tags, coins etc. must beremoved from the centre console.Depress the clutch pedal (manualtransmission) or the brake pedal(automatic transmission or manualtransmission automated) and pressEngine Start/Stop.To switch off the engine, pressEngine Start/Stop again. Remove theelectronic key from the centreconsole.This option is intended foremergencies only.
