Page: 3-17WALKER MANUFACTURING COMPANYJuly 2006SERVICE INSTRUCTIONSBlade Brake Action - All ModelsModel MS, MW, MC, MD, MTCheck the function of the cutter blade brake (and blow-er brake on GHS models) by engaging the blade clutch(PTO), operating the engine at full throttle, then disen-gaging the clutch and measuring how quickly theblades stop. Watch the rotation of the blade drive shaftand blower pulley as a visual indication that movementhas stopped. If the brake is working properly, all ro-tation will stop five (5) seconds after disengage-ment of the clutch. If the brake system malfunctions -blades do not stop in five (5) seconds - adjust or repairthe brake before operating the mower. If either is noticed, the respective shaftor tube should be replaced.
