Printer requirements and specifications6-6 Installation Planning GuideSpace requirementsYou should consider the following factors when deciding where toplace the printer hardware components:• Adequate work space and service clearance around theequipment• Proximity to electrical and network connectors• Security of the work area. You may need to place the systemin an area where you can restrict access to it. This may beimportant if your personnel need to print confidentialdocuments or if you are concerned with unauthorized usage.Dimensions and weights of the printer components are listed inthis section, along with diagrams, to help you visualize the sizesand total space requirements.NOTE: There must be a 78 inch / 198 cm vertical clearancethroughout the entire area. In addition, your printer must beinstalled in a fixed location with a minimum clearance space of36 inches / 91.4 cm around all sides of each piece of equipmentfor access by service personnel. In addition, there must be 50inches / 126.9 cm clearance space in front of the printer. For information on clearance space and other space planningconsiderations, refer to the “Space planning guidelines” sectionof this chapter.
