Once a fault or problem isidentified, establish the probable cause and apply theappropriate solution.- If a fault occurs, refer to the screen messages andanimated graphics and clear the fault in the orderspecified.- If the problem is not solved by following the screenmessages and graphics, refer to the problem solvingtables on the following pages and apply the appropriatesolution as described.- Also refer to the faults codes displayed in thePrint QueueorFaults List in theMachine Status mode. Refer to page12-15 for an explanation of some of the fault codes andcorresponding corrective actions.- Alternatively, contact theDC440/432/420 Key Operatorfor assistance.- Or switch the machine off and then on again. Ensure thatyou follow the relevant power On/Off instructions asdescribed in Chapter 2 of this user guide.CAUTION: Failure to leave at least 20 seconds betweenrepeated power OFF /ON can result in damage to theDC440/432/420 hard drive.- If the problem persists, or a message indicates that youshould call for service, please refer to the “Call for Serviceprocedure” on12-19.NOTE: If Fax is enabled and a loss of power occurs, theDC440/432/420 will print aPower Off Report when themachine is switched on. This will show a list of the fax jobs lostduring the power loss.
