Page 51FT-450D OPERATION MANUALCW P ITCH ADJUSTMENTYou may adjust the center frequency of the receiver passband, as well as the pitch of your offset CW carrier viathe Menu Item “CWPITCH”. Available tone selections are 400 Hz through 800 Hz, in 100 Hz step.CW M ODE O PERATION1. Press and hold the [F] button for one second toenter the Menu mode. The “ ” icon will ap-pear on the display.2. Rotate the [DSP/SEL] knob to select the menuitem “CWPITCH”.3. Press the [DSP/SEL] knob to enable adjustmentof this menu item. The “ ” icon will be blink-ing.4. While pressing and holding the [METER/DIM] but-ton, rotate the [DSP/SEL] knob to set the desiredpitch frequency.(You may press the [RCL/HOME] button to resetthe pitch frequency to the factory default.)5. Press the [DSP/SEL] knob. The “ ” icon re-turns to appear continuously.6. Press and hold the [F] button for one second tosave the new setting and return to normal opera-tion.CW TRAINING FEATUREThe FT-450D provides a unique CW Training feature, which sends random Morse Code five-character groupsvia the sidetone (heard in the speaker), so you can improve your CW proficiency whether or not the bands areopen.1. Press and hold the [F] button for one second toenter the Menu mode. The “ ” icon will ap-pear on the display.2. Rotate the [DSP/SEL] knob to select the menuitem “CWTRAIN”.3. Press the [DSP/SEL] knob to enable adjustmentof this menu item. The “ ” icon will be blink-ing.4. Rotate the [DSP/SEL] knob to select the trainingmode:N: Numeric character onlyA: Alphabet character onlyM: Numeric and Alphabet characters (Mixed)5. Press the [F] button to begin generation of thefive character code groups (CW sidetone only,does not key the transmitter).6. When the code group is completed, the “Answer”will appear on the display.7. Press the [DSP/SEL] knob. The “ ” icon re-turns to appear continuously.8. Press the [F] button to generate another codegroup, as above.9. To disable the CW Training feature, press andhold the [F] button for one second to return tonormal operation.NOTE: You may adjust the Morse Speed via Menu Item“CWSPEED”.
