FTA-310 OperATing MAnuAl38Flying to a VOR StationThe FTA-310 can indicate the deviation from the directcourse to a VOR station. Select a VOR station on your aeronautical chart andturn the DIAL selector knob (or enter the frequencydirectly with the keypad) to the frequency of theVOR station. To indicate the deviation between your current flightpath and the desired course, press the [F] key mo-mentarily, then press the [4 (CDI)] key to changeto the CDI (Course Deviation Indicator) mode. The“C ourse devIatIon arrow” will appear above thefrequency field on the display when your aircraft isoff the direct course to the VOR station. When your aircraft is off course to the right, theCourse Deviation Arrow display will show bars tothe left side of the diamond (“ ”). When youraircraft is off course to the left, the Course Devia-tion Arrow display will show bars to the right sideof the diamond (“ ”). Correct your course untilno bars appear on either side of the CDI “Diamond”(only “ ”) will be visible when the heading is cor-rect).
