There will be fuel in the fuel filter. Keepaway from sparks, cigarettes, flames orother sources of ignition. This procedure will allow some fuel tospill. Catch fuel in a rag. Wipe up anyspilled fuel immediately. The fuel filter must be reassembledcarefully with the O-ring, filter cup, andhoses in place. Improper assembly orreplacement could result in a fuel leak,which could result in a fire or explosionhazard.EMU30640Cleaning fuel filterNOTE:If any water is in the fuel, the float will rise. Ifso, remove the cup and drain the water.1. Unscrew the filter cup, catching anyspilled fuel in a rag.2. Remove the filter element, and wash it insolvent. Allow it to dry. Inspect the filter el-ement and O-ring to make sure they arein good condition. Replace them if neces-sary. If any water is found in the fuel, theYamaha portable fuel tank or other fueltanks should be checked and cleaned.3. Reinstall the filter element in the cup.Make sure the O-ring is in proper positionin the cup. Firmly screw the cup onto thefilter housing.4. Attach the filter assembly to the bracket.5.
