Remove the oil level plug to allow the oilto drain completely.CAUTION:ECM00710Inspect the used oil after it has beendrained. If the oil is milky, water is gettinginto the gear case which can cause geardamage. Consult a Yamaha dealer for re-pair of the lower unit seals.NOTE:For disposal of used oil consult your Yamahadealer.5. With the outboard motor in a vertical po-sition, and using a flexible or pressurizedfilling device, inject the gear oil into thegear oil drain screw hole.6. When the oil begins to flow out of the oillevel plug hole, insert and tighten the oillevel plug.7. Insert and tighten the gear oil drainscrew.EMU29312Inspecting and replacing anode(s)Yamaha outboard motors are protected fromcorrosion by sacrificial anodes. Inspect theexternal anodes periodically. Remove scalesfrom the surfaces of the anodes. Consult aYamaha dealer for replacement of externalanodes.CAUTION:ECM00720Do not paint anodes, as this would renderthem ineffective.NOTE:Inspect ground leads attached to external an-odes on equipped models.
