18 EnConnecting to a network7 Use the cursor keys ( / ) to select desiredsecurity method and press RETURN.SettingsNone, WPA2-PSK (AES)If you select “None”, go to step 10 below.NoteIf you select “None”, the connection may be insecure since thecommunication is not encrypted.8 Use the cursor keys ( / ) to select“Security Key” and press ENTER.9 Use the cursor keys to enter the security keyon this unit, and press RETURN to previousstate.Enter either 8 to 63 character string or 64hexadecimal digits.Use the cursor keys (/) to select a character andthe cursor keys (/) to move the edit position.You can insert / delete a character, by pressingPRESET i (insert) or PRESET j (delete).10 Use the cursor keys ( / ) to select“Connect [ENT]” and press ENTER to savethe setting.The SSID and security key information is requiredfor setup of a mobile device.When you select the “SSID” in Step 5, you candisplay the SSID configured for this unit.11 Configure the Wi-Fi settings of a mobiledevice.For details on settings of your mobile device, refer tothe instruction manual of the mobile device.(1) Enable the Wi-Fi function on the mobile device.(2) Select the SSID of this unit from the list ofavailable access points.(3) When you are prompted for a password, enter thesecurity key displayed in Step 9.If the Wireless Direct connection cannot be made, thesecurity key may be incorrect. Configure the Wi-Fisettings of a mobile device again. You can verifywhether the unit is connected to a wireless network(p. 18).12 To exit from the menu, press SETUP.Verify the network connection statusPerform the following procedure to verify the unit’sconnection to a network.NoteWhen using Wireless Direct, you will not be able to check thestatus of the network connection.1 Press SETUP.2 Use the cursor keys ( / ) to select“Network” and press ENTER.NoteTo return to the previous state, press RETURN.3 Use the cursor keys ( / ) to select“Information” and press ENTER.4 Use the cursor keys ( / ) to select“STATUS”.When “Connect” appears, the unit is connected to anetwork.
