Electrical systemPoor or no spark Spark plugs are dirty with carbon or arewet ... Remove carbon or wipe thespark plugs dry; replace if necessary. Faulty ignition system ... Ask a Yamahadealer to inspect. T.O.R.S. system malfunction ... Discon-nect the carburetor switch connectorsand connect the wire harness connec-tors together to bypass the T.O.R.S.WARNING@ Before bypassing the T.O.R.S., makesure that the throttle returns prop-erly to the fully closed position. The T.O.R.S. is an important safetydevice; in the case of a malfunction,take the snowmobile to a Yamahadealer immediately for repair.@3. CompressionInsufficient Loose cylinder head nuts ... Tightennuts properly. Worn or damaged gasket ... Replacegasket. Worn or damaged piston and cylinder... Ask a Yamaha dealer to inspect.B. Starting the engine with a dis-charged batteryIf the snowmobile battery is discharged,the engine can be started using a 12-voltbattery and jumper cables. Two connectingleads have been provided for jump-startingthe snowmobile. Due to the rubber enginemounting, the snowmobile frame is not asuitable grounding point for jump-startingthe engine.WARNING@ Connect the jumper cables only tothe connecting lead terminals. Donot connect them to the frame orany wire or other lead. When connecting the jumper cables,do not contact the jumper cables orconnecting lead terminals to eachother or to the frame or any metalpart of the snowmobile. This cancause electrical system damage orA FIRE HAZARD.@CAUTION:@Use the connecting leads to jump-startthe snowmobile only. Do not use theconnecting leads for any other purpose.@1. Apply the parking brake and turn themain switch to “OFF”.
